    Troop 130 is sponsored by the United Methodist Church of Bensalem Township, located at 4300 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem, PA 19020. This site is devoted to the members of Troop 130 Bensalem and their affiliates.
     Scouting contributes to our day to day thoughts and needs, our fears and emotions, and our passions and cravings. By living the Scout Oath and Law, in our everyday lives, we, as people, will become conscious of the world around us and learn to serve actively in our community.

The participants of the 2009 Spring Camporee, held at Washington's Crossing State Park, stand in front of the T-130 Swift Boat.   One of the events was the Cardboard Canoe Rigatta. The canoe was made of a very rigid cardboard, and PLENTY of duct tape. The canoe, manned by Aaron and Dennis, was the first to cross the lagoon, and come back. Then Mike and Fred took over for the "Last Man Standing" part of the competition. Their undoing was a slight imbalance, causing them to flip on their own.   It was a fantastic job by the boys both on the canoe (building it) and in the canoe. More pictures to come.
Klondike Derby - 2009 The troop has survived yet another one, and I do mean survived. Those in attendance can be extremely proud of yourselves. The weather was COLD, and most everyone hung in there. CONGRATULATIONS to the Phantom Patrol for taking 2nd place in the skills competition, and to the Do-do Patrol for taking 1at place in the sled race. Excellent job, boys.
A SPECIAL FUND RAISER UPDATE The scouts, leaders and parents of Troop 130, would like to thank the community, in general, for their support. The spaghetti dinner fund raiser, held Nov. 15, 2008, was a terrific success. We were able to raise $2,100. The total proceeds went to the Lewis family, whom have a lot of rennovations to do to their house, and cars, and lives in general to accomodate for the injury, Mr. Lewis suffered while helping his community. TROOP 130, Then... This picture was donated by Eagle Scount, Robert Heywood. Mr. Heywood is the 2nd name on the troop's Eagle scout roster. This picture was taken in the early 60's, at Ockanickon Scout Reservation. Those familiar with the camp, will know the boys are posing where the volleyball court is now, along the side of Totem Lodge. Click Here to see a full-size image.
Young Daniel finds a unique way to do the top of those high SUVs at the annual carwash. Many thanks to Applebee's. Their management and staff just about bent over backwards to assist us in making this a successful fund raiser. Thier help showed they are truly a community-oriented establishment, wanting to give back. Thank you, Applebees. View the 21 pictures of this event, held June 7, 2008.
Well, another successful camping trip to the Coast Guard Base, in Caper May, NJ, has been completed. Despite the buffeting winds, the loss of a couple tents, and a bit of a storm, we had a blast. Many thanks to the men and women of the Coast Guard. Their tour, as always was fascinating. The boys not only toured the large cutter, but the smaller rescue boats, and the fire station. In the afternoon, we went on the whale watch tour put on by Cape May Whale Watch. What a fantastic trip!! We did not get to see any whales, but did get to see quite a few, and learned some things about, dolphins. The captain was quite knowledgeable. It is a trip we wil be talking about for some time to come, and highly recommended. Troop 130 would like to join National Council and our fellow troops in showing our support of America's military in their fight for peace in the Middle East.       We encourage all citizens to show their support of America by joining us in tying red, white, and blue ribbons on trees in neighborhoods across the country. If you know someone in the armed services, you may honor him or her by writing their name on the ribbons.       The link above will take you to National Council's promotion and official press releaase of their support.
