Scouting contributes to our day to day thoughts and needs, our fears and emotions, and our passions and cravings. By living the Scout Oath and Law, in our everyday lives, we, as people, will become conscious of the world around us and learn to serve actively in our community.
Take some time. Learn about us. Learn about scouting. Join the adventure.

2010 marks 100 years of Scouting
That's right. Scouting is set to celebrate it's 100th anniversary. National is busy planning the 2010 National Jamboree, being held ar Fort AP Hill, in Virginia. We are planning to set up summer camp for 2010 towards going to the jamboree. Click the link above to see the wonderful things planned for this HUGE event. We don't want any of our boys to miss out.

The Klondike Derby, for 2010, was held on January 15, 16 and 17th at OSR. The weather was much warmer than last year. The results have not been compiled yet, but our three sled teams were pretty confident in their performance.Click Here to view pics provided by Mr. Blewitt.
2009 Activities
Steve and Dakota on the A.T.
November 14th & 15th: The Appalachian Trail was once again beset upon by Troop 130. Most of Saturday, Mother Nature was good to them, but by Saturday evening, our groups was finding out just who had good tents, and who would need to be replacing them. Despite sleeping in puddles, and some slippery slopes, everyone made if off the mountain and safely back home. Check out more pics
Tom and Fred on the A.T.

We have survived, yet another canoe trip. Well... most of us, anyhow. While we brought everyone home, we all came home a little lighter, losing articles to the low branches along the Batsto River. The course was a certain challenge and the weather managed to hold off, though it was storming to the east and west of us. All in all, we had an excellent time. You can check out some pictures, courtesy Mr. Blewitt. (the pictures are in a .pdf file, so Just click on the picture to go to the next one, or fight-click to go back one.).

The participants of the 2009 Spring Camporee, held at Washington's Crossing State Park, stand in front of the T-130 Swift Boat.
One of the events was the Cardboard Canoe Rigatta. The canoe was made of a very rigid cardboard, and PLENTY of duct tape. The canoe, manned by Aaron and Dennis, was the first to cross the lagoon, and come back. Then Mike and Fred took over for the "Last Man Standing" part of the competition. Their undoing was a slight imbalance, causing them to flip on their own.
It was a fantastic job by the boys both on the canoe (building it) and in the canoe. More pictures to come.

Klondike Derby - 2009

The troop has survived yet another one, and I do mean survived. Those in attendance can be extremely proud of yourselves. The weather was COLD, and most everyone hung in there.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Phantom Patrol for taking 2nd place in the skills competition, and to the Do-do Patrol for taking 1at place in the sled race. Excellent job, boys.
REMINDER:  Acme and Shop-Rite receipts are an excellent fund raiser for the troop. Please remember to save your receipts and turn them in to Mr. Eyre.
