A SPECIAL FUND RAISER UPDATE
the workers
The scouts, leaders and parents of Troop 130, would like to thank the community, in general, for their support.

The spaghetti dinner fund raiser, held Nov. 15, 2008, was a terrific success. We were able to raise $2,100. The total proceeds went to the Lewis family, whom have a lot of rennovations to do to their house, and cars, and lives in general to accomodate for the injury, Mr. Lewis suffered while helping his community.

This picture was donated by Eagle Scount, Robert Heywood. Mr. Heywood is the 2nd name on the troop's Eagle scout roster. This picture was taken in the early 60's, at Ockanickon Scout Reservation. Those familiar with the camp, will know the boys are posing where the volleyball court is now, along the side of Totem Lodge. Click Here to see a full-size image.

Many thanks to Applebee's. Their management and staff just about bent over backwards to assist us in making this a successful fund raiser. Thier help showed they are truly a community-oriented establishment, wanting to give back. Thank you, Applebees.

Cape May picture
Well, another successful camping trip to the Coast Guard Base, in Caper May, NJ, has been completed. Despite the buffeting winds, the loss of a couple tents, and a bit of a storm, we had a blast. Many thanks to the men and women of the Coast Guard. Their tour, as always was fascinating. The boys not only toured the large cutter, but the smaller rescue boats, and the fire station.

Cape May Tour boar

In the afternoon, we went on the whale watch tour put on by Cape May Whale Watch. What a fantastic trip!! We did not get to see any whales, but did get to see quite a few, and learned some things about, dolphins. The captain was quite knowledgeable. It is a trip we wil be talking about for some time to come, and highly recommended.

Paul L, Steven V., and Brian P man the doors at our first Scout Night at Friendlys Restaurant.

The evening turned into a real success. We were happy to see a lot of support from the troop families, and even happier to see a large amount of support from families of our host-church, Bensalem United Methodist. It is heartening to see such wonderful support in a time where people just don't care. Thank you, all

In our 50/50 rasffle, Mr. Amerman, or Nensalem, was surprised to receive the phone call saying he had won $75.

A special thanks goes out to Mr. Lacerte who put this all together. His persistence really paid off, and hopefully will continue as we hold this once a month. And, of course, we need to thank the management at the Friendlys Family Restaurant, Street & KNights Roads, Bensalem, for their generosity in allowing us to hold this event. Their show of community spirit is wonderful to see.

Another successful trip to the Applachian Trail has been completed. We entered the trail at Fox Gap, and concluded our trek at Delaware Water Gap, PA. Everyone worked together to make the trip as safe as possible. Congrats to the new scouts who completed the trail trip without a single complaint. Ceck out the Pictures taken by Mr. Eyre.

Many thanks to all the scouts who participated in the church clean=up detail on Saturday, Nov 4. You all did a great job. The congregation is still tlalking about the hard work you all put in. (Abive picture taken by Miss Caroline with her Polaroid.)

Fall Camporee - October 27 - 29th

We did it! We survived the rain and winds of Friday night/Saturday morning, and the high winds of Saturday night. We got a little bit....well maybe a lot bit.... soggy, but toughed it out.

The troop handled two of the five event stations (lashings & camp gadgets). We want to thank Cameron O., from Troop 102, for his help with the lashings station. <>br>
Zach T. handled SPL duties for the troop on Friday night until Tom showed up. HE also handled SPL duties for the camporee as whole all weekend. All we heard was high praise for the job he did by those running the camporee. Great job Zach.

Great job Troop 130.
