Summer camp - 2004, was spent at:
Goosepond Scout Reservation is a clean, spacious camp. The boys ad mixxed feelings about the counselors there, the shooting, cope and water-front programs were among the best. The campsite (Iriquois) was a nice site, though some of the tents need to be replaced. Many thanks to Camp Administrator Dave Srebro for all his cooperation, and special thanks to "Momma Donna" for her valuable assistance.
During the week there, our boys earned a combined total of 41 merit badges. This year's badges earned included: Basketry, Canoeing,
Climbing, Communications, Environmental Science, Orienteering, Pioneering, Rifle, Sculpture,
Small Boat Sailing
, Swimming, White-water and Wilderness Survival.
Our first year guys spent the week in Goose Pond's Pathways Program. This allowed all boys, not yet past the Scout rank to work on different advancement requirement's which would allow them to move on to their Tenderfoot rank. Many thanks to Junior Assistant Scoutmaster Jim Decvita for working with the boys and participating in this program.
We also enjoyed the first annual In-Site Campfire. The boys taking the Communications merit badge had to emcee a campfire. On Wednesday night, the leaders sprang for pizza and a campfire show was put on. Even the rain which came that night couldn't dampen the spirit.
At the Friday night, Closing Campfire, the troop treated the camp to their own "It's A ummer To Be You" skit. They were also awarded a ribbon for having over 75% of the trop in camp that week.
