For 2006, the troop traveled to Brookville, NJ, and spent the week at Joseph A. Citta Scout Reservation. We had no idea what to expect, save the rumors that the green-head flies were nasty. Wenever encountered, but the black flies more than made up for that. A few gallons of bug-spray, however, and we were good as gold.

Citta, as a whole, rates a 9 on a scale of 1 through 10, with 10 being.....well, Ockanickon.
The staff, starting at the top with Director Chris Street and including our site guide Matt K (pictured right)), were excellent. When it came to service and making your week the best, they were all about that. The programs were well run and program areas were clean. The staff excellent. The food was good. We would have enjoyed seconds in some cases, but it ws never offered. We stayed in the Chippewa campsite, which was spacious. The canvas tents were all in good condition and the canvas cots BRAND NEW!!!
During the week there, our boys earned a combined total of 42 merit badges. This year's badges earned included: Small Boat sailing,
Communications, Environmental Science, Swimming, Rifle, Archery,Climbing
Citizenship in the Community and Citizenship in the Nation.
We didn't have any first-year scoutss wit us this time around, so no one participated in their program directed towards first-year guys (Beavers). We did, however, get a glimpse at the program. The kids all seemed to be enjoying themselves as well as learning scouting skills (imagine that).
We also enjoyed the third annual In-Site Campfire. The boys taking the Communications merit badge, once again, had to emcee a campfire. On Thursday night, Mr. & Mrs. Kingsmill and their guests the Weeklys, Mr & Mrs. Peden, Mr Trost, Mr. Hatton, Mr Leibel, and Mr. Eyre all made the trip to camp. The Kingsmills brought (to our delight) goddies galore, including RUM CAKE!!!! A campfire show was put on. Jim Devita was on-hand to help make the actual campfire. The boys enjoyed having these visitors and putting on their show for them. They had prepared all week for the skits.
Once again, we would like to thank Chris Street, and the staf at Citta for a wonderful week. If asked if we will ever return to the camp in Brokville, I think the answer will be a resounding YES!!
